The Hippopotamic Birthday Giveaway ($380 prizes 17/11)

by Caz on November 1, 2012 · 231 comments

Guess what?  I’m old – and I just added another year to my collection.   To celebrate this outstandingly awesome fact this week I’m launching myself  a  hippopotamic birthday giveaway.  (No I am not giving away a hippopotamus.)  So there you have it, it’s my birthday but you get all the presents – I’m nice like that :)    Check out the line up below and then follow the instructions at the bottom of the post to enter.

The Pepsi Next Pack

Have you tried Pepsi Next?  I have and if you’re a Pepsi kinda person you’re going to love it.  The pack  comes with some cool extras like a t-shirt, cap, USB and glow in the dark pen.   My girls are sill fighting over the glow in the dark pen.  The pack is valued at $40 and I have one to giveaway.

The Jelly Bean Factory Pack

Have you tried these yet?  36 flavours and all of them yummy.  Though the kids loved them, they’re a great little pick me up snack to have hidden away for mum and dad too.   Jelly beans – but all grown up.   I have two packs valued at $50 each to giveaway.

1.    2 x Gourmet Mix Canister 300g
2.    2 x Berry Burst Box 75g
3.    2 x Fruit Cocktail Box 75g
4.    2 x Tropical Bonanza Box 75g
5.    2 x Gourmet Mix Bag 145g
6.    1 x Gourmet Mix Cup 200g

Chenco Foods Yum Cha Pack

I’ve been sampling these little Chenco Yum Cha dumplings this week and let me tell you they are dumpa-licious.  I think I could totally get myself addicted to the Shiitake Yum Cha.  Chenko is an Australian owned and operated family business which has been perfecting dumplings for the past 30 years.  They’re available at your local supermarket – but I’ve also got two of the above packs to giveaway.  Can’t you just see yourself sitting down for quiet afternoon Yum Cha with this lovely package?  I have two to giveaway and they’re valued at $50 each.

Phillips AVENT 3 in 1 Electric Steriliser

One for the new mums.  The Phillips AVENT 3 in 1 Electric Steriliser offers a six minute sterilising cycle and switches off automatically once the cycle is complete, for extra safety. Philips AVENT Sterilisers use the hospital method of steam sterilisation, which is quick, easy and efficient in killing harmful germs, with no chemicals involved.  Sounds like a real time saver.  They have a great facebook page too.   It’s valued at $139.95 and would be a great additional any feeding mums life!

So if you want to celebrate me being old by winning one of everything above follow the instructions below.  There will also be a second prize of the Jelly Bean Factory Pack and the Chenko Foods Yum Cha pack.

  1. In the comments below tell me what you think would make the best birthday present for  a busy mum.
  2. If you are nice enough to share this giveaway on facebook or twitter please feel free to leave a second entry comment.
  3. Follow The Truth About Mummy in any way you like (facebook, twitter, email or pinterest.)
  4. Please leave an email address  that you check regularly – as giveaways are redrawn if you don’t respond within 4 days.
  • Giveaway is open until Midnight on  17th November 2012  and has a total value of approx $380.
  • (Check the T&C tab for full T&C).
  • Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. I  received  trial products to complete reviews for this giveaway – no financial incentive was offered or accepted.

A dream come true; one I had as a little girl, that I d won a prize and was shocked when a truck backed up to my front lawn and dumped tons of smarties on the lawn. The whole neighbourhood came running with containers…… it was heaven. I was allergic to the red ones and never allowed to have them. THAT WAS THEN!

Hi Sandy, the bottle steams will take a little longer – they had to wait for a re-stock. Let me know if it doesn’t come within a week or so thou. The Yum Cha packs do travel in two parts but I’d have thought they would arrive within a few days of each other. I’ll send them a quick email to find out. :) Caz

As a busy mum, I wish a group of kids could join my birthday party. My little one loves playing with other kids, so he would be happy to have fun with those kids instead of bothering me and I could have my personal space for a while. And it would be very interesting to celebrate my birthday with kids.

It’d depend on the Mum I think! However, I think the best presents would be ones that spoil, pamper and give a little time out – for me it’d be books, maybe for someone else a little pedicure kit or a lovely silky pair of pyjamas!

Out of the prizes above – definitely the jellybeans, perfect for a sneaky sugar hit if you hide them in the back of the pantry. ;)

A busy mum needs time. As this is rather difficult to package and present, as an alternative might I suggest a robot vacuum cleaner.
Now before you all shame me for suggesting something unbelievablely expensive gift, my little *K9* cost me $200 and is an absolute gem. No name brand, but vacuums up the dog/cat/girl hair like my regular vacuum, but without me attached! A wonderful time saver

Do the shopping…
Do an on-line order with lots of treats
And easy meals for the family to eat.
You could include a cake
So her own she does not have to bake!
A knock on the door
The delivery man has boxes galore.
This is a present of surprise goodies
As well as one less shopping trip
And in one box perhaps there will be ‘champers’ to sip.

I would have to choose the Jelly Beans as the best present for a busy mum because they provide loads of energy. A handful of jelly beans can supply your body with enough vitamin C for a day and they will never give you an adverse gaseous effects on your digestive system. So I recommend to eat as many as you want and when things get too stressful or you have just had enough – reach for a jelly bean or two!!!

(I always wished I had had someone to come and give me a hand with even the smallest job sometimes)

I think a wonderful gift would be to give her a booklet of ‘vouchers’ eg. One home cooked meal, One load of ironing done, etc etc .. vouchers that have little chores or things on that can be ‘redeemed’ when needed.

Another idea is to drop lunch or dinner around for a week … not stay .. just drop it in. In disposable containers so no dishes need be done after either.

Fabulous prizes! Thank you for the chance to win but more importantly …..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Hmmmm, I was just complaining to a friend that a lot of the things I do for myself right now feel like vanity rather than necessity. I think I have just neglected myself and my needs for so long that it’s uncomfortable getting back to the new normal where spending a little time and money on ME is allowed. So, I think a pamper package would be a brilliant gift for a mum. A couple of nail polishes, some magazines, a box of coffee sachets (the fancy kind) a selection of chocolates and a bottle of champagne! DONE!

A pedicure’s the perfect pressie for a bit of fun.
To be pampered and preened over in a way just for you,
That longed for foot massage that hubby never gives out of the blue.
To finally have perfectly polished, colourful toes for a day,
Something you never find time for even though your big pregnant belly’s no longer in the way!

When I was a busy mum, I asked the children as a birthday gift, for a voucher with an amount of time of their choosing written on it, that I could produce when they were arguing, and they had to be quiet straight away for as long as the time on the voucher . Was really a really good idea in the beginning, but when I got vouchers for 2 minutes I decided that just wasn’t long enough.
