Ferrero Boutique caught my attention in a big way a few days ago when they had a beautiful bunch of flowers delivered to my door. Nothing captures my attention like a delivery and flowers are certainly one of the best things to find waiting when you open the door
Interestingly thou the reason behind the flowers was to promote Ferrero Boutique Hampers as a new idea to spoil new mums when bubs arrives …… as opposed to flowers. Oh well, I got flowers delivered to my door and that put a huge smile on my face. And I’ve gotta say the hampers look scrumptious. They’d make any new mum happy. Beautifully presented and full of delicious Ferrero chocolates ….. because we all know chocolate is without doubt a must have for any new mum. (And a few of us older ones too.)
The generous people over at Ferrero Boutiques have set aside the hamper above for me to giveaway – so someone can experience its scrumptiousness first hand. It’s a medium Ferrero Hamper which retails at $89 and includes:
- 16 pack Ferrero Rocher Chocolates
- 15 Raffaello Chocolates
- 30 pack Ferrero Rocher Chocolate
- 9 Ferrero Collection Assorted Chocolates
- Bashful Beige Bunny Medium
- 1 Goodnight Bear Night Light
- Leave a comment below telling me what you think would be the perfect gift for a new mum (real or really ridiculous) – apart from the beautiful Ferrero Boutique Hamper.
- If you are nice enough to share this giveaway on facebook or twitter please feel free to leave a second entry comment.
- Follow The Truth About Mummy in any way you like (facebook, twitter, email or pinterest.)
- Please leave an email address that you check regularly – as giveaways are redrawn if you don’t respond within 4 days.
- Giveaway is open until Midnight on October 31st 2012 and has a total value of approx $89
- (Check the T&C tab for full T&C).
- Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. I received a bunch of beautiful flowers but no financial compensation for writing this post.

Aside from a live in nanny! I reckon the best thing you can give a new mum is something that makes her stop and spend a moment on herself.

Because a new mum definitely deserves to be spoilt after the hard work she has put in and is going to put in!
Cleaner, Chef, Gardener, Hairdresser, Makeup Artist, Brad Pit, Chanel No 5 ….oh, ok that is delusional. How about two things only – chocolate in every way, shape and form and a great masseur. Just enough to help any new mother indulge in between everything else she has to do. Following you on Twitter as well.
cake, to let her now that she can still eat all the she wants and still be beautiful
I think the best thing for a new Mum would be caffeine by introveneous drip! We certainly need some energy. That, or perhaps a doppleganger so we can be and do everything we need to.. we may need to keep it till the kids are 18 though!
New mums always need chocolate…thats all I ate! I think its the perfect gift….or silicone ear plugs!
The best imaginary gift: a clone of herself for times when she would just love some sleep, and baby can be comforted.
Your own mum to give you a hug when you feel you can’t cope… the best present ever!
Someone to help relieve the pressure and stress… a Godsend!

You obviously mean besides a sleep through the night function for babies and subsequent children or an unlimited supply of healthy non-fat chocolate so after that I would say the most valuable gift you could give a new parent is a cleaner. So that they can have a chance to have a nap instead of trying to keep the house from becoming a disaster zone. We all need to catch up on sleep when we can and being pregnant I say give me the fatty delicious chocolate over fat free anyday.

To have everything taken care of for a few weeks would be bliss for a new mum. No cooking or cleaning.
cleaner once a week for 6 weeks, meals delivered or a nappy service

i would share this hamper with my six little children and have a little picnic in the park with it, what a great idea.
A great gift would be a personal planner, with a self-care and wellbeing section right at the front.
I was fortunate to be spoilt by lots of meals being cooked- ensuring healthy and nutritious food. I also had a wonderful friend from work who helped with visitors. She always baked for them and made the teas and coffees. Very helpful and would aim to do this for new mums now!

Everyone has lovely ideas with massages, facials etc. but in those first few moths it is sometimes difficult to go anywhere without the baby who will want to be fed. A beautiful pile of magazines, all varieties to keep you updated with the latest goss is wonderful. Simple but really appreciated
The perfect gift for a new mum (at least what I would have loved!) would be a gigantic bathtub. Or heck go all out and give them a spa! The amount of times even now, 2.5 years later I have used the bath or shower to settle my kids is phenomenal, and I think that it should be as relaxing as possible for mum, too. Perfect for any ‘me’ time a new mum can snatch up too!

I would give a new mummy a voucher for a years worth of professional cleaning services so she can have more time to spend with her new baby
I believe every new mum needs at least one day to themself. Will certainly help and avoid depression from sitting in a home surrounded by four boring walls.
A bottle of win – she’ll need it. I know I was hanging out.
I once printed up ten Gift vouchers for Jenny’s Cleaning Service (me). So that she knew that if she got overwhelmed, she could call me and I’d come over and give the house a good clean. By using vouchers, my friend didn’t feel that she was abusing the friendship by asking for too much, as I had already given her the OK to call me up ten times for help. You could also give Lawn Mowing Vouchers, or Baby Sitting Vouchers.

A housekeeper for the first month or so would be perfect for a new parent (That’s what I wish for!)
A new mom needs a Boppy and bubble bath.
I think the perfect gift from a true friend would be to have cleaned the house for her prior to her arrival home, have stocked the fridge/feezer with easy meals and the pantry with Ferrero Rocher Chocolates, and to give the new parents a gift voucher for a dinner out, along with the promise of being a nanny for the chosen night once the initial settling in of baby has been established. The thought of that evening will seem like a lifeline and such a reward to come after the first sleepless nights… Oh, and a promise of always being at the end of the phone, whatever time of the day or night, for help and support or just to talk, would be a wonderful gift, too.
A housekeeper would be very, very practical & extremely useful. A godsend really. Someone to do the chores & cook, while Mum concentrates on bub & herself.

I think an assortment of gift vouchers to all sorts of places. Supermarkets, baby stores, general clothing stores, hardware. You need so much with a new baby and all those places would be handy to have vouchers to.
the perfect gift for a new mom is homecooked meals by my own mom every night!
As you said Ferrero Boutique is beautiful ,I think the next best thing for a new Mum is a big I mean really big bunch of fresh flowers It certainly brighten’s anyone ‘s day .
A perfect present for a new Mum, in my opinion, would be after baby has a feed, put them down for a sleep right away. You might get some time before they wake again, so gives you time to do what you have to. This is what I did for my children and I survived well. I wasn’t too sleep deprived at all and got alot of reading time waiting for them to wake again. Enjoy it because next thing you know, they are off to school and you wonder what happened to the years that past.

I believe every new Mum should be given a 24 hr on call Relaxation Therapist for the first 12 months of Motherhood! That would be the life.

Support …. perhaps some meals already cooked, do the housework for a week or two eg. washing, vaccuming. Some TLC in the way of dropping over with a packed lunch … not staying … just dropping it off … or perhaps staying and doing some housework … LOL
So pretty much just helping out …

All new Mums need a Nanny and a good night out.
Any new mums I always buy disposable nappies and lots of them.
I know a cleaner to come and clean your home before you check out of hospital is an absolute winner. and if people can’t afford that even just your friends doing it for you. I remember arriving home to my girlfriend putting the vacuum away, beds were crisp, dishers done. it was heaven.

Apart from the beautiful Ferrero Boutique Hamper, I would have to say a camera (disposable or FANCY), a first night off hamper of a bottle of wine, strawberries, chocolates and a dinner and movie voucher for two because my god new parents will be deserving of such a gift within the first year at least and if those two gifts are on the pricey side, then I’m sure most parents would love and use at some stage, no matter how oddly they look at you when you give them these but EARPLUGS!!! They will soon understand why.
A Baby Sitting Voucher for you for Future Use and Magazines and Chocolate.

The best gift for mum is spending one day with her to do whatever she likes. We’re busy with our lives and spend less time accompanying our parents. One day when I was on the way home from shopping, one old lady stopped and talked to me, ‘you’re beautiful and you look like my daughter’. I never met this lady before, all I felt was that she’s alone, she is missing her daughter.

Ive always in the past bought a gift for mum not bubs, a few reasons why, mum has alreaady bought everything and usually too much and adding gifts given for new baby. But I believe in making the new mum feel good she did do alot of work to bring bubs into the world so I gift friends in either a gift voucher from a local hairdresser or buying a voucher for a local clothing store (which does not sell baby clothes) so mum isnt tempted to buy something for bubs and spoils herself and feels good.

The best present/s I can think of is, the present that my beautiful mum and mother in law gave me when I had my amazing son & daughter (twins). Mum & Marg would travel & stay at our home to help with the babies and household chores. Two and a half years later I am still overwhelmed by their love and support during those early days with premmy babies. I would wish family support for any new mum. Also on a funny note, a toodles, the mousekatool (mickey mouse club) would be an amazing present for any family. He can fix anything!!!

The best present I got as a new mum was a whole night off. My daughter was only about 5 weeks old when her grandmother decided that she wanted an overnight stay. For my husband and I it was our first night out with no time limit for ages, the first night where we could sleep all the way through. And we both woke up feeling refreshed and ready to face the world again. No better present in the world, unless it could be weekly sleepovers for young babies.
Becoming a fresh-faced new member of the mums club myself only three short months ago, I know first hand what the best gifts are for new mums – obviously the AWESOME new baby, pretty cool gift. But serious now, I had my best pal show up with a new coffee machine WITH all the pods a zombie-esk mum would ever need, monster stack of girly mags, all my favourite choccies, a tray of jelly slice and an incredibly moreish pasta bake. Completely overjoyed and desiring nothing more. Ok, except for more sleep.
The best gift for a new Mum is reassurance that they are doing the right things, that baby will sleep through eventually, that although your baby seems to cry all the time it doesn’t mean that he hates you or that you are a bad mother. I had my reassurance in the form of a supportive Mum and mother in law and don’t know how I would have made it through those first colic-fueled months without them. Of course chocolates helped greatly too!

When a friend of mine had her baby, one of her single friends gave her the gift of so many Nanny hours (20 , I think from memory), that she could use when and how she wanted, an hour or 2 at a time, or more at one time. I think that is a fantastic gift!
We always make up a big basket full of goodies for the new Mum and another one for the Baby
A soundproof lockable room with lots of chocoate and a bed. Heck a bed made of chocolate
*chocolate
A mini me, clone of herself as such, that thrives on changing dirty nappies, wiping up baby chuck, doing the endless loads of washing, and not to forget wiping toddler snot! This additional little being would be the best gift ever for any new, or even old Mum!
A cleaner to keep the chores at bay
A chef to cook the meals for the day
Extra hours for naps and more time with new bubs to play
Champagne and soft cheeses…and everything else we avoid when pregnant!
Best present? Helping Hands!!! you just can’t get enough of them and a lot of new Mums just don’t want to ask for help …helpful friends, relatives etc are better than any material present that is oh so fleeting…
A pamper facial and massage voucher for a new special mum along with a hand written note offering to babysit the baby while she gets some stress relief is always nice to give. Something I wish I had gotten as a new mum instead of the norm.

The best present for a new mum would be the instruction manual that seems to be missing from most models… Would probably come in handy at those times when the feed/sleep/change/feed/bath/feed/scream/feed/scream all gets a bit too much, and you are looking for some answers…

The perfect gift for a new mum would be a cleaner for a mth. Gives them time to settle in
Homecooked frozen meals that just need to be bunged in the oven. Perfect for new parents.
How about some hand made vouchers that the new mum can redeem at any time. A home cooked meal, a babysitting evening, a coffee and cake morning, a bubble bath whilst you watch the little one……you could come up with anything and a new mum would be rapt, i know i would of
The best present for a new mum would have to be a personal chef, on call 24/7. For all those times you are starving hungry while breast feeding or dealing with witching hour while the hubby abd other kids are hanging for dinner. Ah the bliss of a chef
