Ferrero Boutique Giveaway (31.10.12)

by Caz on October 16, 2012 · 228 comments

Ferrero Boutique caught my attention in a big way a few days ago when they had a beautiful bunch of flowers delivered to my door.  Nothing captures my attention like a delivery and flowers are certainly one of the best things to find waiting when you open the door :)

Interestingly thou the reason behind the flowers was to promote  Ferrero Boutique Hampers as a new idea  to spoil new mums when bubs arrives  ……  as opposed to flowers.   Oh well, I got flowers delivered to my door and that put a huge smile on my face.    And I’ve gotta say the hampers look scrumptious.  They’d make any new mum  happy.  Beautifully presented  and full of delicious Ferrero chocolates ….. because  we all know chocolate is without doubt a must have for any new mum.  (And a few of us older  ones too.)

The generous people over at Ferrero Boutiques have set aside the hamper above for me to giveaway – so someone can experience its scrumptiousness first hand.    It’s a medium Ferrero Hamper which  retails at $89 and includes:

  • 16 pack Ferrero Rocher Chocolates
  • 15 Raffaello Chocolates
  • 30 pack Ferrero Rocher Chocolate
  • 9 Ferrero Collection Assorted Chocolates
  • Bashful Beige Bunny Medium
  • 1 Goodnight Bear Night Light
Would you like to win it?  Either for yourself or for someone else.  The  follow the steps below:

  1. Leave a comment below telling me what you think would be the perfect gift for a new mum (real or really ridiculous) – apart from the  beautiful Ferrero Boutique Hamper.
  2. If you are nice enough to share this giveaway on facebook or twitter please feel free to leave a second entry comment.
  3. Follow The Truth About Mummy in any way you like (facebook, twitter, email or pinterest.)
  4. Please leave an email address  that you check regularly – as giveaways are redrawn if you don’t respond within 4 days.
  • Giveaway is open until Midnight on  October 31st 2012  and has a total value of approx $89
  • (Check the T&C tab for full T&C).
  • Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. I  received a bunch of beautiful flowers  but no financial compensation for writing this post.

Aside from a live in nanny! I reckon the best thing you can give a new mum is something that makes her stop and spend a moment on herself.

Cleaner, Chef, Gardener, Hairdresser, Makeup Artist, Brad Pit, Chanel No 5 ….oh, ok that is delusional. How about two things only – chocolate in every way, shape and form and a great masseur. Just enough to help any new mother indulge in between everything else she has to do. Following you on Twitter as well.

I think the best thing for a new Mum would be caffeine by introveneous drip! We certainly need some energy. That, or perhaps a doppleganger so we can be and do everything we need to.. we may need to keep it till the kids are 18 though!

You obviously mean besides a sleep through the night function for babies and subsequent children or an unlimited supply of healthy non-fat chocolate so after that I would say the most valuable gift you could give a new parent is a cleaner. So that they can have a chance to have a nap instead of trying to keep the house from becoming a disaster zone. We all need to catch up on sleep when we can and being pregnant I say give me the fatty delicious chocolate over fat free anyday.

- a cleaner each week for 6 months
- 3 personal training sessions a week or a 6 month gym membership
- a weekly massage
- Fav Restaurant voucher
- Vouchers for fav clothing stores for both mum and bubs. You want to spoil your little one with cute outfits and you body changes so much you need new clothes too.

(To be honest, my fav way OTT gift would have been a “mummy makeover” as in tummy tuck, boob job etc, lol)

The perfect gift for a new mum (at least what I would have loved!) would be a gigantic bathtub. Or heck go all out and give them a spa! The amount of times even now, 2.5 years later I have used the bath or shower to settle my kids is phenomenal, and I think that it should be as relaxing as possible for mum, too. Perfect for any ‘me’ time a new mum can snatch up too! :)

I would wish every mother a baby that sleeps (because that’s really possible to organise!) but failing that, a ‘Doona Day’ (voucher style?)… where they only have to surface to feed … and the rest of the time they can hide under the doona with chocolate, and don’t have to answer to anybody or be responsible or have to wear non-baby-sick smelling clothes, and all their favourite meals will magically appear at the bedroom door on a tray at dinner times :)

The best gift I have ever been given as a new Mum was a little fruit platter from my Grandma after the birth of my first son. I was in hospital for over a week after complications with the birth and it was so nice to graze on beautiful fresh fruit whenever I felt like it :) And gift givers – never underestimate the value of popping over to do a load of dishes or to hang out the washing – even just to say hi!. It can be very isolating having a new bub :)

I once printed up ten Gift vouchers for Jenny’s Cleaning Service (me). So that she knew that if she got overwhelmed, she could call me and I’d come over and give the house a good clean. By using vouchers, my friend didn’t feel that she was abusing the friendship by asking for too much, as I had already given her the OK to call me up ten times for help. You could also give Lawn Mowing Vouchers, or Baby Sitting Vouchers.

I think the perfect gift from a true friend would be to have cleaned the house for her prior to her arrival home, have stocked the fridge/feezer with easy meals and the pantry with Ferrero Rocher Chocolates, and to give the new parents a gift voucher for a dinner out, along with the promise of being a nanny for the chosen night once the initial settling in of baby has been established. The thought of that evening will seem like a lifeline and such a reward to come after the first sleepless nights… Oh, and a promise of always being at the end of the phone, whatever time of the day or night, for help and support or just to talk, would be a wonderful gift, too.

A housekeeper would be very, very practical & extremely useful. A godsend really. Someone to do the chores & cook, while Mum concentrates on bub & herself.

I think an assortment of gift vouchers to all sorts of places. Supermarkets, baby stores, general clothing stores, hardware. You need so much with a new baby and all those places would be handy to have vouchers to.

A perfect present for a new Mum, in my opinion, would be after baby has a feed, put them down for a sleep right away. You might get some time before they wake again, so gives you time to do what you have to. This is what I did for my children and I survived well. I wasn’t too sleep deprived at all and got alot of reading time waiting for them to wake again. Enjoy it because next thing you know, they are off to school and you wonder what happened to the years that past. :)

A gift for a New Mum is on that I dreamt of everytime we had a baby – a live in housekeeper! One who cooked the meals, washed the dishes, did the laundry, cleaned the house but disappeared when all was day by the end of the day, only to return again the next day :)

A ticket to the mental health ward. My GF is pregnant with her 4th child due 11 months after her 3rd was born and its delivery will time in with xmas. Poor luv will need a good long rest… where better than somewhere they can keep her nicely medicated and sane through that first year of infancy and toddlerhood rolled into one :P

Support …. perhaps some meals already cooked, do the housework for a week or two eg. washing, vaccuming. Some TLC in the way of dropping over with a packed lunch … not staying … just dropping it off … or perhaps staying and doing some housework … LOL

So pretty much just helping out …

I know a cleaner to come and clean your home before you check out of hospital is an absolute winner. and if people can’t afford that even just your friends doing it for you. I remember arriving home to my girlfriend putting the vacuum away, beds were crisp, dishers done. it was heaven.

Apart from the beautiful Ferrero Boutique Hamper, I would have to say a camera (disposable or FANCY), a first night off hamper of a bottle of wine, strawberries, chocolates and a dinner and movie voucher for two because my god new parents will be deserving of such a gift within the first year at least and if those two gifts are on the pricey side, then I’m sure most parents would love and use at some stage, no matter how oddly they look at you when you give them these but EARPLUGS!!! They will soon understand why.

The best gift for mum is spending one day with her to do whatever she likes. We’re busy with our lives and spend less time accompanying our parents. One day when I was on the way home from shopping, one old lady stopped and talked to me, ‘you’re beautiful and you look like my daughter’. I never met this lady before, all I felt was that she’s alone, she is missing her daughter.

Ive always in the past bought a gift for mum not bubs, a few reasons why, mum has alreaady bought everything and usually too much and adding gifts given for new baby. But I believe in making the new mum feel good she did do alot of work to bring bubs into the world so I gift friends in either a gift voucher from a local hairdresser or buying a voucher for a local clothing store (which does not sell baby clothes) so mum isnt tempted to buy something for bubs and spoils herself and feels good.

The best present for a new Mum would be sleep! I know you can’t give that, especially if the bub is being breastfed and needs to be with Mum during the night, but just taking care of bub for a few hours during the day while Mum can get some extra sleep – that’s gold in my opinion! :)

The best present/s I can think of is, the present that my beautiful mum and mother in law gave me when I had my amazing son & daughter (twins). Mum & Marg would travel & stay at our home to help with the babies and household chores. Two and a half years later I am still overwhelmed by their love and support during those early days with premmy babies. I would wish family support for any new mum. Also on a funny note, a toodles, the mousekatool (mickey mouse club) would be an amazing present for any family. He can fix anything!!!

The best present I got as a new mum was a whole night off. My daughter was only about 5 weeks old when her grandmother decided that she wanted an overnight stay. For my husband and I it was our first night out with no time limit for ages, the first night where we could sleep all the way through. And we both woke up feeling refreshed and ready to face the world again. No better present in the world, unless it could be weekly sleepovers for young babies.

Becoming a fresh-faced new member of the mums club myself only three short months ago, I know first hand what the best gifts are for new mums – obviously the AWESOME new baby, pretty cool gift. But serious now, I had my best pal show up with a new coffee machine WITH all the pods a zombie-esk mum would ever need, monster stack of girly mags, all my favourite choccies, a tray of jelly slice and an incredibly moreish pasta bake. Completely overjoyed and desiring nothing more. Ok, except for more sleep.

184 Shayne October 17, 2012 at 7:04 am

The best gift for a new Mum is reassurance that they are doing the right things, that baby will sleep through eventually, that although your baby seems to cry all the time it doesn’t mean that he hates you or that you are a bad mother. I had my reassurance in the form of a supportive Mum and mother in law and don’t know how I would have made it through those first colic-fueled months without them. Of course chocolates helped greatly too!
