Weight Watchers Food Hamper Giveaway {congratulations Meg}

by Caz on July 3, 2012 · 178 comments

I have talked a bit in the past about my own mind battle with the scales – and what I’ve learned about the diet mentality.  But in case you missed those post I’ll just let you know that I’m a  size 18 and have been since about the time I gave birth to my first child eight years ago.   These days I’m much less worried about this than I used to be.  Sure I’d still love to drop some of the extra kilos and feel fitter and healthier – but I’m also well aware that I am just as valuable and lovable to the world as I am.  I don’t need to get thin be acceptable and frankly neither do you.  What it really comes down to for most of us is health and vitality.

As mums we need our energy and we need to know we’re going to be healthy enough to look after our kids for years to come. If losing weight fits into your plan for doing that then I genuinely  think Weight Watchers is a good way to go.   I went to weight watchers before I had kids and lost 12kgs.  Its wasn’t fast or easy but it was balanced supportive and didn’t make me mortgage my home to pay for it.

Unfortunately those 12kgs found me again somewhere between conception and having 3 kids!  I honestly believe that was because I was still trying to gain acceptance through being thin – and that my friends will never work.

When Weight Watchers approached me recently to giveaway a basket of their goodies I remembered that their approach is generally a good one and if they can help mums to become more healthy, and be all they can be, then I’m all for it.    The hamper includes a stack of non-perishable Weight Watchers approved goods as well as the June issue of Weight Watchers Magazine, Cookbook and an apron.  To enter follow these three simple steps:

  1. Leave a comment below telling why you’d like  to win this pack.
  2. If you are nice enough to share this giveaway on facebook or twitter please feel free to leave a second entry comment.
  3. Follow The Truth About Mummy in any way you like (facebook, twitter, email or reader feed)
  • Giveaway is open until Midnight on the 16th of July, 2012 and has a total value of $90.
  • (Check the T&C tab for full T&C).
  • Disclaimer: All opinions are my own.  I received a $30 administration fee and no products for posting this giveaway.
If you love a good giveaway please check the Review and Giveaway Tab above for others that are still open for entry :)

But after just returning from an overseas holiday and not wanting my photograph taken I need to lose about 7 kilos so this would give the kick start I need, plus I am going to join Weight Watchers online this week – really :)

Think it was 1kg extra after first child, 2kg after second child and so on. After five children, those kilos have added up.

Lost 11 kilos in 4 weeks following a low carb diet, six days a week. Another 10 to go, but ohhhh that 10! Low carb doesn’t cut it (out) any more, and I want to adopt an eating plan that I can carry on with into the future. Never tried Weight Watchers anything, but am ready to give it a go!

I just recently had 3 weeks off work for school holidays and said i was going to be good and exercise and eat healthy food. I excerised only 3 times and ended up putting on 3 kilos. I have at least 25kilos to loose if not more and really could do with something to get me motiviated. Years ago i did loose weight with weightwatches so hopefully they can help me again and this time to keep it off.

While I’m unable to change some things about myself like being unable to defy the laws of gravity where things are drooping south, a congenital back defect which has caused me to have difficulty exercising as I used to and my ongoing back pain causing me to take medications that has done me no favours when it comes to weight gain. I’m hoping that if I win this prize, I can lose enough weight to be able to exercise a little more and thus reduce my weight which in turn hopefully will reduce my back pain to a degree that I can reduce my medications and that I feel happy within myself again.

I have changed my lifestyle for the better!! Daily I commit to swapping all my nutritionally empty calories for choices that nourish and fuel my body. Combine this with daily exercise and power walking with weights and I’m on top of the world! My motivation and outlook in life is phenomenal. Why I’d love that hamper? Weight Watchers have my seal of approval for encouraging a lifestyle change that’s lasting and educating on alternate life choices for the better.

Since then i lost approx 40kgs through hardwork and excercise but 4th pregnancy resulted in all of it coming back plus some more eeekkk! 12 month post delivery is next week and now back down by 40kgs and stoked. Have been considering heading off to WW next week to look into their program to shift the last mega stubborn amounts but the costs are prohibitive :( Single mum, 3 kids, busy life, i never look after myself and its slowly starting to creep back up much to my dismay! Would love to try some of their things to see if they work how they say they do!

I have just had my 3rd baby and need to lose a few extra kgs. Need a new approach than just “trying to lose weight”. Think this would be a great incentive!!!

I’d like to try the products cos I’m on the life-after-3-kids-diet like so many others. But I mostly want to congratulate Caz on writing such a positive and responsible post. What a wonderful perspective: do what is best for you and your own health – without judgement or pressure to be ‘thin’. Good luck to all of us with our individual health journeys! It’s certainly a tough battle sometimes!

I would love to win this for my beautiful mum. She has a heart condition and has just been diagnosed with problems with her liver, as a result of her being overweight. My mum really wants to change her lifestyle but she just doesn’t know the proper steps. Sadly she had to leave school at a young age to get a job, so she hasn’t really been educated. Having said that, she is a strong and confident woman who deserves a chance. She said ” I’d die for my family…now I’m going to live for them too.” Thankyou for the opportunity.

I have just started my first attempt at weightloss.
Being 27 and after having my kids piling on the weight, I found myself unhappy mostly when I went clothes shopping.
So …. that was it – I started my journey.
I have lost 11.7 kgs so far but have another 15-20 I would love to lose.
I tend to buy a few weight watchers products due to the low calories.
I would love to win this hamper to help my journey along its way :)
Good Luck to everyone

I am currently more than double the weight I should be for my size! Partly because I gave up smoking and because I have a slipped discs in my back that limit the sort of exercise I can do.
I am currently on the waiting list for lap band surgery which is over a two year wait so I have been trying to lose weight by myself. I’d love the opportunity to try the Weight Watchers way.

I am a size 22 and have finally gotten off my butt and decided to lose weight.Besides looking after 7 children all day, cooking, cleaning and organising,I have found time to go to the gym 4 times a week and go for a 30 min walk everyday. Its the food part that gives me grief because diet food costs so much more

6 months since bub no.2 arrived and DH and I are as heavy as ever (including pregnancy!). I feel good about me but we want to be healthy and good role models for our children. The weight watchers approach has saved me in the past and this pack is just the kick we need!

I lost 12kg with weight watchers before kids and I kept it off through my pregnancies. I have put that 12kg back on plus another 10kg since my son stopped breast feeding and I separated from my husband. I weigh more now than I did when I was full term with a 4.6kg babe. Late night comfort snacking on my own has done it I think. I would love to loose those kilos.

I’m trying really hard to lose the 15kgs I’ve put on in the last 2 years since my lower back and hip bones started breaking down. Unfortuantely that means I can’t do much exercise apart from swimming as it impacts on the joints. Really need hlep in this area and this pack seems like a great place to start.
