I am a bit of a touchy feely kinda gal – both emotionally and physically. And one of the things I love to feel is great quality linen. Catching a ferry into the city on a nice day…there’s something about being on the harbour with blue skies above, sailing past the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, that always lifts my spirits.
It makes me smile (and get a bit teary) when I overhear my 6yo daughter giving this advice to her 8yo big brother before his AFL game “Just do your best buddy!”
When my young grand daughter (3 year old) looks in to your eyes and says I “wove” you nana.
I love my Saturday morning shower, washing my hair, singing, preferably without the kids coming in.
The smell and sound if the rain makes me happy.
When I find $5+ in a pocket of a jacket or jeans, that I haven’t worn in a long time.
When the house is clean,
And no mess mess to be seen.
When there’s silence it’s heaven,
Especially if it’s before seven.
To lay on crisp sheets and a freshly made bed,
Reading a book in peace is better than sliced bread.

Getting into a freshly made bed and playing tootsies with my husband.
I stress a little too much about some of the ‘bad’ kids at my children’s school, and I do worry a lot about it, some would say too much. Last week we walked in the gate, and my 5 year old son took the hand of his favourite classmate and they quietly walked ahead of us, not even talking to each other, just holding hands. Then my 6 year old daughter spotted her friends and they huddled around her as she showed them the bag of mandarins (picked from our tree) that she had brought in for the class to enjoy. Two classic moments in a row, and they were such a tonic to me.

Nothing beats a freshly made bed which is even better when my husband makes the bed and saves my aching back from lifting the mattress.
I love sleeping in a nice clean made bed by myself with my pyjamas on and a heat bag , since having six children under seven this unfortunately never seems to happen.
The thing that has always made me happy and transports me back to my childhood, is opening a new box of Derwent coloured pencils. They were very expensive back then so getting a new box was cause for great excitement. I loved the metal tin and the smell wafting out as you opened the tin and even seeing all the colour smudges on the backing tissue. Bliss! Catching sight of my daughter works too!

My cat, “kitten” always jumps up on the bed and puts a paw on me first to say “I want attention – pat me” except this morning my daughter was home sick and lying on my bed with me. Kitten obviously just thought she was part of the furniture and came bounding up and put a paw on her head! When my daughter moved – Kitten got the fright of her life hahaha.

I am often bedridden, and get much joy when my adult son brings his cat to visit “Granny”… His cat is young and full of energy and runs around my bedroom before having a sleep on my bed when he is exhausted.. Nothing like the purr of a contented cat to make one’s day complete!

I love laying in a pile of freshly finished laundry. The ones that have been dried in the sun (love the smell) and have then been tumble dried to soften them up and are lovely and warm. It feels and smells like heaven!

Recently I had a bit of fun with my little shih tzu Bella, freshly bathed, clipped and perfumed, I put some Punk’d Pooch Purple spikes in her hair and painted her toenails to match. Little Punk rocker dog lol made me smile.
Children going to sleep when you tell them to; and staying there. WHAT THE!? First time ever tonight…… phroar I’m feeling lucky

I love the feel of sunshine on my face, especially mid-Winter when following a run of bad weather. Very relaxing.
We went go karting for Mother’s Day. Uh, huh. Mother’s Day. I thought it would be awful but we had such a great family day.
I’m strange I love the smell of freshly mown grass
With a little one, Getting to finish drinking a whole cup of tea hot, or eating a meal while its still hot.

Even if it is midnight, I love the peace and quiet after everyone is asleep, dishes are done, clothes ready for the next day, and I am alone and can do what I want!

What makes me happy is the smell of a new book! Yes, I know, weird, but they do smell good. The pages are crisp and the spine tight. The pages all sit so nicely on top of one another and no body has read a word from it. There’s something about being the first one to open the cover, bend the spine and start reading a new book page by page that I find quite naughty, well until I get to the end!!!

Now I am a working mum, its a sleep in that makes me happy. It might be something ordinary for a lot of people, but a sleep in is definitely out of the ordinary for me!!
The smell of a new born baby is the sweetest thing in the world and makes me feel so happy
I love the scrunch and feel of tissue paper. I’m not sure why … the sound is lovely and it has this very mild smell ….

I love watching the cows (no matter what age) scratching between their ears with their back feet. I also love watching them trying to lick just above their tails. They look so awkward and ungainly when they try to do these, but it is hilarious.
As a mum, being able to drink a cup of tea while it’s still hot! Life’s simple pleasures…
I need to make sure to get high quality linen. I want high quality linen since it will last for long time.

I love the smell of rain (although, that’s not totally out of the ordinary in Melbourne lately!).
When my husband comes home early is always bound to bring a smile to my face (and is a rare occurrence for sure!)
It makes me happy when I get a random message from my step-daughter on the other side of Australia to say my grandsons (6&2) want to call and say hi!
The perfume of freshly picked sweet peas.
It sounds silly but the smell of lemons. It reminds me of my grandparents house. It always smelled of fresh lemons. No matter what I’m feeling the smell of lemons makes me smile.
Being in a rainforest has always made me feel rested and happy!
I smile everytime my 7 year old son says that his dad is a righteous dude, he heard it off a cartoon and it cracks the whole family up.

A sleep in on a Sunday, followed by breakfast in bed! Love it
I love a sleep in as well:) because i’m a nurse and i work shift work and weekends, a sleep in is like gold to me…and i love nothing better than a sleep in on a Sunday morning, with birds chirping outside in the morning and then i enjoy a beautiful cup of tea and read the paper:) now that is heaven and makes me smile:)
When my 15 year old teenage son, randomly gives me a cuddle for no reason. Usually it’s ‘uncool’ to display such affection amongst his peers. So a random cuddle always makes my day special.
