Okay I’m all ready! I’ve done my 7.00am Christmas Eve grocery shop and all of the pressies are wrapped up and hidden in the bedroom cupboard, waiting from the kids to go to bed so I can safely put them under the tree! Did I tell you how much I love this time of year? The warm weather, the soft summer breeze, the music, the growing joy and anticipation on my girls faces and even the soppy silly Christmas movies. This is without doubt my favourite time of year.
Today is Christmas Eve. The girls have wrapped up the presents for the extended family and written some very interesting cards for them. We’ve taken the left over shortbread mixture out of the freezer to make Santa and his reindeer their biscuits for when they have their rest stop at our house. Over the rest of day we’ll make time to read the story of St Nicholas (the real Santa at our house) and Mary’s birth Story (okay okay yes I mean the nativity story ~ just being creative there.) Then tonight the kids will open their Christmas Eve present and we’ll meet Jingles the Husky Pup and read his story.
The Dear One and I have decided that we’ll also have a little family talk tonight about how Christmas is celebrated around the world and emphasise the fact that not everyone is as fortunate us. It’s really important to us that they understand how privileged we here in Australia, and while we want them to fully enjoy all the benefits this brings, we also want them to have compassion and understanding about children in other countries who don’t have what we have. Makes us sound so P.C – but in reality it will probably be squeezed between bouts of over excited little people squabbles and last minute frantic mummy stuff. But that’s life in our world
So now here we are at the place where I get to wish you and your family and very merry and happy Christmas from me and mine. If you aren’t feeling the joy this Christmas, for whatever reason, I want to especially send you some Christmas Loving. I know Christmas is not always a happy time for everyone. Hang in there – things change
So my friends just let me say that I hope all your Christmas day dreams come true and thanks for reading a long with me this year.

Thanks for your support and comments on my blog this year Caz. xx

Merry Christmas Caz.
Thanks Shell
I think it is lovely that you talk to your kids about the experience of others at Christmas. It’s important for our kids to know how blessed they are, regardless of how many presents they get or whether or not the present they open is what they most wanted. Too many kids don’t have enough to eat, let alone the ‘right’ gifts.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks MoAK. I’m not sure how much of an impact it has on them just now – but hopefully it will in the future
