On a sunny day, we have a walk to the lakes where we have a picnic and feed the ducks, and then roll down the hills having fun.

Blocks, blocks and more blocks. Its amazing what they can make and how fun it is just watching them.

Offer to let your toddler “help” you with the housework. Just arm them with a broom and dustpan and then get out of the way! Be sure and praise them for a job well done. You can always clean up again when they are finished! 🙂 I shared on Facebook – Darya Khomich.

When it is cold and raining outside, I often mix cornstarch with hot water to make a sticky gloopy mixture like consistency. It is mixed for at least 5 minutes until all the cornstarch has been dissolved in the water. The mixture can be poured into a container and when cool enough your toddlers will enjoy plunging their hands into the cornstarch and enjoy its consistency. This can go on for hours and you don’t even have to worry about them putting it into their mouths. Or if your toddler is on the artistic side, you can take the same mixture, put a little paint and spread it on a table where your toddlers can make patterns and squiggles on the table with their hands. 🙂 And you can have a cup of coffee while they are busy!

ohhh I know, I know *puts hands up*

I have 3 kids who are kinda toddlers, a 4 year old who hasn’t gotten outta the terrible twos, an 18 month old who thinks shes like fourteen (aka terrible two) AND a 3 month old who thinks she’s twenty one (aka terrible two number 3!!)!

already a follower and I just subscribed again just in case!

Gosh I kinda need this apptivity case cause hubby hates his iPhone having like 50 apps opened all at once and he hates them fighting over the spongebob squarepants game 😛

I have a few tips

-Food Bribes, I’m not taking about Ill give you a chocolate if you do this- yes that keeps them entertained BUT Toddlers love to cook, you turn it into a great classroom experience but letting them taste and touch textures (um should I mention raw egg is dangerous- my 31 year old hubby wasnt aware LOL)

-DVDs and portable DVDs for car and air and any other form of transport or iPads (he he he not iPhones) will keep them busy for hours on a long haul journey- think V Australia’s virgin flight to LA in 2010 was 14 hours and Miss 4 was then Miss TERRIBLE 2 and shhh phernergan when it all went so sour!!

-Play Doh outside on a hot day is great, dont forget their hats. when it dries out just google a recipe as its cheap and easy to make, just refil their Play Doh pots again till you can get out to the shops

-Prams are awesome when it all gets too hard. A pram ride can be quite entertaining for a toddler. If that fails a car ride is great, especially using someone’s bosses feul card (AHERM! not moi, not moi)

Anyone with a toddler- just keep remembering what a beautiful baby you once had and keep reminding yourself with their newborn piccies, thats what keeps me sane!

Please, please, please save hubby’s iPhone 😀

Take them to the local park and let them go wild.

Timber trucks – master two has four of them….old fashioned and robust. He makes “brumming” sounds, swaps their cargo and wheels them around the house. Best thing was they were inexpensive.

My children simply love to ‘go camping’ indoors – usually using their play tent or a sheet over some dining chairs, they set up a makeshift bed with old cushions and we all play with their tea and food sets inside. Very cosy and makes for a fun indoors day when it’s raining outside!

We go on a picnic to a close by reservoir. There’s plenty of grass to roll around in, there’s a hill so the kids roll to their hearts content, and there’s a playground. I’ll supervise them whilst sitting on the picnic rug which is situated in the shade, taking in memories I’ll have with me forever. Better than any photos 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I get the LEGO out. Evie and Chace put pieces together and hand it to me and I have to pretend I’m eating cheese, cake, sandwiches, etc. Lol, they also have a competition to see who can build the biggest tower!

21 Amanda W December 23, 2011 at 8:29 am

When I am busy and running around the house
that’s when I always find my kids as quite as a mouse
entertaining themselves where they should not
like into my makeup they’ll have got.
But I’ve learnt my lesson (it took a few goes)
instead of thinking they’ll just sit and watch kids shows
When in need of time to keep them busy
I set up some craft to keep them happy
playdough with paddle pop sticks
and cookie cutters seem to do the trick!
Although it can get messy, it keeps them entertained
and that really is the aim of the game 🙂

We keep all the messy games for outside less mess for me 🙂 Tweet

23 Renee December 22, 2011 at 6:01 pm

keep the games outside, that way the kids can runamuck and be as messy as they want

24 Yvette December 22, 2011 at 5:59 pm

We put a big box in the room and watched our daughter jump in and out, play peekaboo, store all her toys in there, and made it into a castle.

We have dance hour in our house, when our little one is getting bored and crying we turn on music and do silly dancing. It always gets giggles and we all have fun

26 Natalie December 22, 2011 at 3:42 pm

We all go outside and I get the paint and paper out and let the kids go crazy.

27 kerry santillo December 22, 2011 at 3:23 pm

Play doh, painting and making a mess
make sure newspaper is down, less stress.
Playing with your child makes it more fun
lots of pictures will have to get hung!!
Having a treasure hunt with favourite toys
is exciting, with screaming and lots of noise.

have shared and tweeted @gherkkerry, thanks ♥

My best tip…Get outside!! Entertaining those terrible two’s is so much more fun in the fresh air. Let them explore the dirt, the leaves, the pegs, the hose…Better than being locked up inside four walls with them!

Love your posts Caz!

I open the kitchen cupboards, ensuring all gadgets that are unsuitable are unavailable, and let him loose! Amazing how creative they can be!
